9 Days Northern Circuit Route

Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport, where you will be met and transferred to Arusha City, a journey of approximately 50 minutes. Upon arrival, check in at Arusha Planet lodge. This lodge renowned for its comfortable beds, inviting swimming pool, and serene atmosphere.

In the morning, after breakfast, our team will pick you up from the Planet lodge and transfer to Lemosho Gate, a journey of approximately 2h30. Upon arrival at the Lemosho Gate, you will begin your leisurely walk through the dense rainforest to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree Camp). Enjoy a peaceful night at Mti Mkubwa Camp, surrounded by the sounds of nature

After a restful night in the jungle and a hearty breakfast, we will emerge from the rainforest and continue along an ascending path. Leaving the rainforest behind, we enter a different zone of Mount Kilimanjaro known as the Heather and Moorland zone. The route steadily climbs, offering wide views as we reach the rim of the Shira Plateau. As we gain altitude, temperatures will begin to drop. Today involves a long trek of approximately 5-6 hours. You’ll spend the night at the stunning Shira 1 Camp, surrounded by the beauty of the highlands.

After enjoying breakfast in the morning, we'll embark on a walk to Shira 2 Camp through the Moorland zone. Our route crosses the Shira Plateau, offering a gentle trek towards the east and providing stunning views of Kibo Peak, adorned with glaciers, as well as Shira Peak. Today's walk will take approximately 3 hours, allowing us to arrive early and enjoy a hot lunch at the camp. After lunch, you can relax until the evening, when we'll take a short acclimatization walk. We'll return to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay

Depart from Shira 2 Camp after breakfast and trek through the moorland and lower Alpine desert. The walk will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Upon your arrival at Moir Hut Camp, you will be served a hot lunch. After lunch, take some time to relax at the camp. Later, you will embark on a short acclimatization walk. Return to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Start your day by departing from Moir Hut Camp after breakfast. Begin your trek as you navigate through the mesmerizing landscapes of the Alpine desert, characterized by vast open spaces and unique vegetation. The trail will take you gradually downward, providing stunning views of the surrounding area. As you trek, be sure to take breaks as needed and enjoy the scenery. After several hours of hiking, you will arrive at Pofu Camp. The trek takes approximately 5 to 6 hours. Once you arrive at the camp, you will be served a hot lunch. After lunch, you can relax at the camp until the evening, when you will take a short walk for acclimatization before dinner

Depart from Pofu Camp after breakfast for a trek to Third Cave Camp. This is another great day, as you will be coming from a higher elevation to sleep at a lower elevation, which will aid in acclimatization. The hike takes about 4 to 5 hours, providing beautiful views along the moorland and rocky paths. Throughout your trek, you'll rotate around the mountain, traversing from the western and northern sides, and today moving to the eastern side. Upon arrival at Third cave, get hot lunch and relax at the camp.

Depart from Third Cave Camp after breakfast for the 4-hour trek to Kibo Hut Camp, walking through the alpine desert with clear views of both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Today, we will carry our packed picnic lunch and save water that we will bring from Third Cave, as there is no water source at Kibo Hut Camp. Upon arrival at Kibo Hut, take time to rest and acclimatize. You will have an early dinner, followed by a briefing for the summit, as this is the base camp. The guide will check your gear and discuss how to arrange for the final ascent.

Start your day with breakfast at High Camp (Millennium Camp) before beginning your descent to Mweka Gate. The trek down takes approximately 5 to 6 hours as you pass through the moorland zone and transition into lush rainforest, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Upon reaching Mweka Gate, sign out and receive your summit certificates, celebrating your successful journey on Mount Kilimanjaro. Once all formalities are complete, you will be transported back to Arusha Planet lodge 2hrs to relax and reflect on your incredible adventure.
