2Summit!Begin climbing at midnight to avoid the heat. The ascent is steep and challenging on volcanic ash and scree. Reach the crater rim at sunrise to see the active carbonatite lava. Descend and rest at base camp.
3FinishOptional visit to Lake Natron to see flamingos. Drive back to Arusha through beautiful Maasai steppe landscapes.
