Day one focuses entirely on Tarangire National Park, starting with a morning pickup from Arusha and arriving at the park by mid-morning.

Tarangire is one of those parks that delivers immediately. Within the first kilometer past the gate, you are likely to encounter elephants, giraffes, and zebras moving across the golden grasslands. The park's defining feature is its elephant population — one of the largest in Tanzania — and watching a breeding herd of 50 or more elephants navigate the dry Tarangire riverbed is an experience that rivals anything on the continent. The ancient baobab trees scattered throughout the park create a landscape that photographs beautifully in any light. After an overnight in a comfortable lodge near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, day two begins before sunrise with the descent into the crater.
