1Drive to Arusha National Park's Momella Gate. Trek through montane forest with armed ranger (for wildlife safety). Possible sightings of buffalo, giraffe, and Colobus monkeys.
2Ascend through giant heather forest. Visit Elephant Ridge for views of the ash cone. Continue to Saddle Hut with stunning views of Kilimanjaro.
3Summit!Pre-dawn start along the crater rim to Socialist Peak (4,566m). Spectacular sunrise views over Kilimanjaro and the Great Rift Valley. Return to Miriakamba Hut.
4FinishDescend through the forest via the shorter route. Game viewing opportunities. Transfer to hotel in Arusha.
