Full Itinerary

Day 0: Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you’ll be warmly welcomed and transferred to your comfortable accommodation in Arusha. Choose from the renowned Tulia Retreat Hotel and Spa or another hotel of your choice, and spend the rest of the day relaxing and preparing for your exciting safari ahead.

Day 1: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, set off for Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. Enjoy a full day of game drives, immersing yourself in the park’s diverse landscapes and abundant wildlife. Savor a delightful picnic lunch amidst the wilderness. As the day winds down, head to the charming Mawe Mawe Manyara Lodge, nestled near Lake Manyara, for dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Day 2: Lake Natron

Embark on a scenic drive to Lake Natron, a remote and surreal alkaline lake in northern Tanzania. Explore the lake’s unique surroundings, known for its vibrant flamingo populations and otherworldly landscapes. Visit nearby waterfalls and Maasai villages to experience the local culture and traditions. Spend the night at the comfortable Africa Safari Lake Natron Tented Camp.

Day 3: Northern Serengeti

Depart for the Northern Serengeti after breakfast, a journey of approximately 4-5 hours. Enjoy a game drive en route, keeping an eye out for wildlife along the way. Arrive in the Northern Serengeti and check into your accommodation at the Kenzan Mara Tented Camp. Settle in and prepare for the incredible wildlife experiences that await.

Day 4: Northern Serengeti – The Great Migration

Dedicate this day to exploring the Northern Serengeti, with a focus on witnessing the awe-inspiring Great Migration. Embark on morning and afternoon game drives, marvelling at the vast herds of wildebeest and zebras as they navigate the challenging Mara River crossing. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider an optional hot air balloon ride (booked in advance) for a unique aerial perspective of the migration and the surrounding landscapes.

Day 5: Northern Serengeti Continued

Spend another full day in the Northern Serengeti, focusing on the Mara River area and the captivating wildebeest migration. Witness the drama and spectacle of this natural phenomenon as predators like lions and crocodiles lurk in the shadows, adding to the excitement. Continue to explore the diverse habitats and encounter a variety of other wildlife in this region.

Day 6: Central Serengeti

After breakfast, journey to the Central Serengeti, known for its high concentration of wildlife and dramatic landscapes. Enjoy a game drive en route, taking in the changing scenery. Upon arrival, embark on an afternoon game drive, searching for lions, leopards, cheetahs, and other predators. Spend the night at the comfortable Kisura Serengeti Tented Camp, nestled in the heart of the park.

Day 7: Central Serengeti

Immerse yourself in the Central Serengeti’s abundant wildlife and diverse ecosystems. Embark on morning and afternoon game drives, exploring the vast plains and encountering a wide array of animals, from elephants and giraffes to lions and hyenas. Visit the Serengeti Visitor Center to learn more about the park’s ecology and conservation efforts.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater and Karatu

After breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site teeming with wildlife. Enjoy a full-day game drive, marvelling at the crater’s stunning scenery and the incredible density of animals, including the Big Five. Ascend from the crater in the late afternoon and head to Karatu for your overnight stay at Eileen’s Trees Inn.

Day 9: Departure

On your final day, enjoy some free time in Karatu for last-minute souvenir shopping or exploring the local area. Consider visiting a Maasai village or boma for a cultural immersion experience. Afterwards, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight, carrying with you the incredible memories of your Tanzanian safari adventure.
